Stp 309 Goury Map 1110E Because the Channel Island of Alderney was a stones throw across the sea (last photo) the German's had to place some defence here, it consisted of three machine gun emplacements and a small 50mm gun. There was also SK bunker. All of the defensive positions seem to have been destroyed in later days. Many other small bunkers and shelters remain in gardens. The last but one photo shows the famous lighthouse and the ship passing in the Pont Aven of Brittany Ferries on the morning run from St Malo to Portsmouth. She was standing in for the Bretagne who was having her annual refit in Gdansk. I only give this information to prove that you can wear more than one anorak at a time!!
