The Atlantik Wall In Normandy |

Couville Map 1210E The site at Couville was nowhere as advanced as Sottevast when the America Army reached this part of La Manche in late June of 1944. It has been argued that this site was merely a decoy to draw bombers away from Sottevast, and it is difficult to get a true idea as to the purpose of what is visible. There are bomb craters everywhere and again I think USAF Marauders must have been used to get bombs this close to the concrete structures. The only plans available seem to show a large underground facility with a wall a couple of meters high but nearly 150 meters long. There is also a large concrete platform measuring 50 meters by 25 meters. This may of been the roof of what was to have been a large underground bunker to house the V2 |
