Port en Bessin has always been a small fishing port. The German's defended it on both sides of the harbour. To the east was WN57 and here on the western side WN57.

Wn57 consisted of two casemates for 57mm Skoda cannons, a personnel bunker of SK construction on the cliff to with a Toubruk close by.

There was also a small fire control post for the guns further down the cliff.
