Wn258 Railway Station Map1210E Whilst the station at Cherbourg has changed since the war, a couple of German Bunkers remain. It is fitting that attached to one of them is the monument to the Railway Workers who perished during the war. Wn258 Vf x 6 Ls Bunker Engine Shed Just along the track is the old railway roundhouse that saw its last steam engine many years ago. Some curious bunkers remain. They were built during the occupation as air raid shelters for the railway workers. I am not sure if they are built to a German or French design. Quite a bit of the railway infrastructure can still be seen. The roundhouse has been clad in panels and is used as a light industrial unit. The water tower can be seen in one of the photos. |
