The Atlantik Wall In Normandy |

Reception Sites The Germans planned four reception sites where the V1 would arrive by train. 1008 Bricquebec, 1009 Valognes, 1028 Montebourg & 1029 St Jacques de Nehou. The latter two were planned but no construction or earth works can be traced. Although the two sites are quite close to each other, they are served by different rail routes. This may have been deliberate so that continuity of supply might have been maintained if either route was cut by Allied bombing. The route to Valognes was by the main line from Caen and Bricquebec the route came by St Lo and Le Mans. The latter route was more difficult and meant a longer flight for the Allies.
