WN14 is one of the most interesting and complete German positions on Utah Beach.
Its centre of attraction is the "special construction" gun bunker and garage,
which is the only one of its type on the D-day beaches.
The bunker was designed to house two cannon, a 47 mm gun pointing to the north
and a 50 mm cannon to the south. The two guns were kept in a garage, placed just
to the land ward side of the bunker.
There were also two mortars housed in Tobruks, one of which still has the German
firing positions marked around the centre of the bunker.
There are several small bunkers to house the munitions and one of the Tobruks
had a Renault tank turret mounted on it and the mounting plate is still there,
which is very rare.
Just to the south is an old French fort, which traces can still be found, and
which does not seem to have been used at all by the Germans.
