Wn401 Place d'Inglemere Map 1210E Just to the south of Port Pignot hidden in a garden is the remains of WN401. The stand for a cannon (usually a 75mm) remains with usually the cannon wheel metal tyre being used to form the base. There are also two MG posts and a small FCP hidden in the undergrowth. This site is on private land and permission should be sought before entering. The German numbering system gets a little confusing in this area. To the east you have the positions that come under the control of Barfleur with numbers in the Wn1XX series To the West the coastal positions are under the control of Cherbourg and are numbered Wn2XX and the positions inland are numbered in the Wn4XX series 2 x MG Stand and Cannon Emplacement. |
